Our Commitment to Clean Energy
United Solar Group (USG) was founded in 2009, it’s founder and chairman (Richard Vargas) expanded the Australian business into 6 continents as a utility scale developer working closely with governments and private corporations towards building and operating clean energy power plants.
In Australia, USG owns and operates the retail brand United Solar Energy, a renewable energy retailer helping families, businesses and schools transition to clean energy.
USG set out to fast track the uptake of clean energy in Australia via the largest consumers of energy (businesses), in 2019 it piloted a concept that would help small, medium and large size businesses transition to clean energy without the need to invest in the technology assets (solar panels).
Businesses are high energy users, therefore can make the biggest impact to reduce carbon emission from fossil fuel power generators, after a successful launch in Malaysia (MySunPlan), SunPlan was born to minimise the cost of using energy for businesses in Australia via a clean energy source.
The SunPlan Concept
The concept is simple, instead of investing in large capital solar farms that only benefits power distributors and retailers by producing cheap clean energy then repacking it and selling the power to businesses at a high margin, USG has partnered with an Australian clean energy fund to invest in rooftop solar power plants, these rooftop solar energy power plants generate power from the sun and feeds the energy into the business (building) at up to 50% cheaper than the grid power.
A Perfect Solution For Leased Business Buildings
In Australia, the majority of businesses lease the building premise, therefor find it harder to transition to clean energy as they don’t own the building rooftop. The cost of installing solar panels is not in reach of most businesses, and funding the installation ads to the cost by as much as 50%, pushing out the payback term and in some cases making it unviable.
Then you have the task of convincing your landlord to use the building’s rooftop without any viable benefit to the landlord, the majority of businesses give up by this stage.
SunPlan benefits the business with cheaper energy via a FIXED rate, it’s clean energy and recorded as a business expense (tax deductible). As a tenant you are less likely to move out, and more likely to renew your tenancy lease further.
